This piece is dedicated to my younger brother, Tian Jiang. He is the sitter, however, is depicted as his younger self. Through the eyes of my family and I he will always remain the kid who we all protect and love. He is currently in 7th grade, and has grown up so much, but despite this, we still see him as a mischievous little boy. Tian was raised in Brisbane his entire life; personally as an immigrant from China, it has been amazing seeing how he has grown into living in Australia, a country we were initially unfamiliar with.
Little Darlings is for primary and secondary students, with four separate categories across Kindergarten to Year 12. Responding to the theme ‘Me and my place’, students painted, drew, photographed, printed or combined all of these to make their portrait.
