Digital initiatives

The digital environment has become inextricably embedded in the way we live, play, work, govern, organise and learn. Social media and mobile technologies are creating new relationships between cultural institutions and their audiences. This allows for evolving, exciting opportunities to reach audiences far beyond the Gallery’s walls.

New technologies allow ingenious ways of providing access to the National Portrait Gallery Collection. Multimedia platforms allow visitors to listen to the stories of the portrait subjects and artists represented in the collection.

From digital portraiture to livestreamed interactive learning programs, collaborative mobile applications to virtual reality, the National Portrait Gallery embraces technology in all that we do. Help us continue to innovate, experiment and inspire!
