Begin with a short tour of the exhibition Joan Ross: Those trees came back to me in my dreams and gather inspiration to take with you into the workshop. Explore key themes of consumption and greed, and their effects on the environment to inspire your sustainable crafting with Jo.
Jo will demonstrate a range of simple crafting techniques and guide you in creating your own exquisite branch or bunch of exotic blooms.
Sustainability is important to Jo who specialises in making paper native blooms out of recycled materials. This workshop will encourage you to look at the paper we all have in our homes as a material with potential to be transformed into a thing of beauty.
All materials provided but you are welcome to bring your favourite branded packaging papers such as shopping bags or wrapping paper. For teens aged 14–18 years.

Jo Neville is the artist and designer behind Paper Couture, one of Sydney’'s most respected paper practices. Her work spans major commercial installations to smaller creative commissions. Jo’s work has been featured in many Australian books, magazines, journals and television programs. Jo has been commissioned by some of the most celebrated brands in the business and arts world including the National Gallery of Victoria, Moët & Chandon, Perrier Jouët, Magic Millions, Meta, Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & Co.
‘With all of my commercial commissions I create with intention to reuse and repurpose, to extend the life of the artwork and ultimately the story for which they were created. Core to my business and creative practice is creating artwork from the most suitable sustainable papers in a continuous cycle – made to be made again!’
